CHRIST IS BLACK — Teach Shirt
This Is Not a Controversy. This Is the Scripture.
The debate was never supposed to exist. The description was written down thousands of years ago by eyewitnesses, prophets, and the men who stood in His presence. The question was never unanswered — it was ignored. And now a generation is opening the book, reading the text, and refusing to look away from what was always there.
This shirt does not argue. It cites.
"His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire." — Revelation 1:14
Wool. Not silk. Not straight. The texture of the hair is not decorative language — it is a physical description recorded by John, who saw Him face to face in the vision on Patmos. Wool hair is not ambiguous.
"His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass." — Daniel 10:5–6
Polished brass. The prophet Daniel stood before a heavenly messenger and the description he recorded placed the skin tone in the spectrum of burnished, deep bronze — the color of a people forged in the ancient Near East and African sun.
"I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon." — Song of Solomon 1:5
The Shulamite woman declared her complexion without apology. The tents of Kedar were dark. The lineage was dark. The people of the covenant carried that complexion openly throughout the text.
"My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat." — Job 30:30
Job — a man of the land of Uz, in the ancient Near East — described his own skin as black. This is not poetic metaphor. This is self-identification recorded in the oldest book of scripture.
"And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow." — Exodus 4:6
The miracle of Moses' hand turning leprous as snow only registers as a visible sign if the hand that went in was not already that color. The contrast was the miracle. The baseline was dark.
The scripture has always told the truth. The images lied.
Christ Is Black. The Word said it. Wear the proof.
Why This Shirt Exists
For centuries the image of Christ was used as a tool of conquest, submission, and cultural erasure. This shirt is not built on emotion or protest — it is built on chapter and verse. Five witnesses. Five passages. All pointing in the same direction. The Teach Shirt Collection exists for those who do not just believe the Word, but carry it publicly and answer every question with a reference.
When someone asks why the shirt says what it says, you are ready. That is the whole point.
